The Wildcard winners
Winners of the German Wildcard 2019 were the Berlin activists behind the KIMBUK Festival and KIMI Seal. Their Children’s Book Festival and Children’s Book Seal recognise diversity and inclusion in children’s books. Of the international entries in 2019, the Canadian founders of Scenarex were the ones that convinced the jury. With Bookchain, they offer a blockchain-based method for securing the copyrights and distribution of e-books.

As part of the Frankfurter Buchmesse prize draw, participants can win an 8-square-metre stand (8sqm row stand, including environment and energy surcharge, marketing package, Furniture & Lighting M furniture package, and 10 trade visitor day passes). Any company that has not yet exhibited at Frankfurter Buchmesse is eligible to apply.
Any company affiliated with a company in any form that is or was already an exhibitor at Frankfurter Buchmesse is excluded from participation. The closing date for competition entries is 31 May 2020. In June 2020, the winner will be chosen by Frankfurter Buchmesse GmbH judging panel and notified of the prize by e-mail. Following notification, Frankfurter Buchmesse GmbH will send the winner all documents needed for participation in the event. The prize is not transferable.

TAIPEI INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR AND BOLOGNA CHILDREN’S BOOK FAIR POSTPONED TO MAY
CORONA VIRUS AFFECT ON THE PUBLISHING FAIRS

The latest on how coronavirus COVID-19 is affecting world publishing events, the Taipei International Book Fair and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and is postponed until May.

Taipei International Book Exhibition

The announcement of the postponement of the fair is from the Taipei International Book Exhibition which reflects the situation, the entire program, as you may know, having been delayed from its original February 4 to 9 dates. It now has an expected run of May 7 to 12.
In making the decision to delay the program, Taipei’s organizers have reported that Taiwan’s ministry of health and welfare hasn’t yet imposed restrictions on conventions or assemblies, but exhibitors expressed concern.
“Also,” the show says in its messaging on the subject, “parents are unlikely to bring their children to the fairground as the children’s area will be held in Hall 1 for the first time. Furthermore, international exhibitors as well as authors have gradually canceled their book fair schedule.”
In going forward later in the spring, the show’s statement says, the ministry of culture and the fair’s foundation “will assemble a specialized team to ensure the rights and interests of all exhibitors and readers. This specialized team shall also organize complete contingency measures for the postponement.”

New Dates: May 4 to 7
The announcement of Bologna’s postponement now is following the decision of Taipei International Book Exhibition to move its event further this year. While organizational details of the change are still coming from Italy, the 57th Bologna Children’s Book Fair is being postponed to May 4 to 7 because of the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.
And the company is tweeting the change in English and Italian so that world publishing rights directors, illustrators, authors, editors, publishers, vendors, and others can alter travel arrangements.
