POST-PANDEMIC TRAVELOGUE »

Travel writing has been an alien tradition to Indian literature. A distinct Indian view of Pre-modern world, inferred from sub-text of travel accounts, never emerges. Many foreign travellers wrote about their impressions of India, making their impressions an important source to reconstruct Indian history.
Travel has generally been a niche genre for publishers. Travel writing is exciting and who doesn't want to be transported away from their immediate space?
The pandemic has brought about a palpable decline in general trust levels. How will people react to a stranger, wanting to have a detailed conversation? One can only speculate.
