From bestseller events with world-famous authors to discussion rounds, workshops and performances. This year, BOOKFEST will take place physically as BOOKFEST city and for the first time virtually as BOOKFEST digital.

BOOKFEST digital will broadcast a multi-faceted programme on Saturday, 17 October 2020, from 10 in the morning to 10 in the evening. Canada is preparing a series of virtual programme elements that will show the diversity, creativity and uniqueness of the Canadian literary and cultural scene.

BOOKFEST digital will be livestreamed on YouTube and buchmesse.de – along with selected highlights on Facebook.

ARD BOOKFAIR STAGE
ONLINE AND IN THE FESTHALLE »

ARD Book Fair Stage is celebrating its première in the Festhalle Frankfurt in 2020 – as half stage, half studio. The entire programme will be simultaneously recorded and livestreamed online. 

One highlight will be the ARD Book Fair Night on Friday, 16 October 2020, that will be broadcast on all of Germany’s regional cultural channels. And on Saturday evening, 17 October 2020, Irvine Welsh and John Niven will come together in a summit meeting for contemporary Scottish literature.

BERNARDINE EVARISTO
KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT FRANKFURTER BUCHMESSE ONLINE CONFERENCE

Award-winning author Bernardine Evaristo will be a keynote speaker at Frankfurter Buchmesse's online conference, heading up the Publishing Insights track that takes place online at www.buchmesse.de/conference2020 on Wednesday, 14 October 2020. The British author, who was awarded the 2019 Booker Prize, will address the topics of diversity and inclusion in publishing in her keynote speech. 
Bernardine Evaristo, MBE, is the award-winning author of several books of fiction and verse fiction that explore aspects of the African diaspora. Her novel Girl, Woman, Other (published by Hamish Hamilton) won the Booker Prize in 2019 and the Fiction Book of the Year Award at the British Book Awards in 2020.
The Publishing Insights track on 14 October (3 pm to 5.30 pm (CEST)), at which Bernardine Evaristo will be speaking, is part of the book fair's online Frankfurt Conference series.

FRANKFURTER BUCHMESSE FILM AWARDS SHORTLIST »

B3 Biennale of the Moving Image is yet again working with Frankfurt as part of The Arts+, the annual Frankfurt programming that emphasizes books and many nearby creative industries. Movies like: Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dog, First Cow (Kelly Reichardt), The Story of Film by Mark Cousins(Pavilion Books) and many more have been shortlisted so far.
