"Norway - The Dream We Carry” is the theme of this year’s Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse (16-20 October 2019). At a press conference in Leipzig today, Norway celebrated the start of its 2019 literature programme. 18 Norwegian authors and their works will be in the spotlight over the next few days: around 40 events are planned at the Leipzig exhibition grounds and in the city itself, stimulating interest in Norway’s diverse literature and music scene. The programme is organised by NORLA (Norwegian Literature Abroad).

About the guest of honour
Norway is 2019 Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse. The guest country appearance is organised by NORLA – Norwegian Literature Abroad. NORLA is organising the guest country appearance on behalf of the Norwegian government and the Norwegian book industry. NORLA was founded in 1978, and has contributed to the translation of around 5,500 Norwegian books into 66 languages since 2004 alone. The Frankfurter Buchmesse, which takes place between 16-20 October 2019, is the world's largest publishing trade fair. The Guest of Honour presents its literature and culture at the fair in Frankfurt, and at numerous other locations in Germany. The theme of Norway's Guest of Honour presentation is “The Dream We Carry”, which is drawn from a poem by Norwegian poet Olav H. Hauge.
