HIGHLIGHTS FROM MUMBAI SESSION

Jiggy George, Founder and CEO of Dream Theatre gave a presentation about the business of licensing, merchandising and brand management. "Licensing extends the life-cycle of your work over a long period of time, thereby maintaining its relevance in contemporary times by reimagining it in different formats- digital, physical or experiental and engaging with newer audiences" said Jiggy.


OTT platforms and other digital avenues are the next big market for good content. Books, already published, tried and tested are the obvious first choice for production houses. Sidharth Jain, Founder & Chief Storyteller, The Story Ink who represents more than 100 authors moderated a panel to explore what kinds of books make the cut and how to give books a chance to make the journey from print to screen. Mrinalini Khanna, Vice President, Endemol Shine India, a production house that has acquired and Bilal Siddiqi, Author, Bard of Blood (A Netflix Adaptation) shared their experiences on the same.
"If we make screen-time for a child relevant, meaningful and informative, it can have a positive impact on the development of the child" Ashutosh Parekh, VP, Voot Kids, Viacom 18 Pvt. Ltd. talked about the growing world of children's content. He also elaborates what that the India's first and only platform for kids is.

"Who is your reader community? Identify, engage and interact" said Venke Sharma, Digital Marketing Practitioner and Author 
at the Author Branding and Promotion masterclass at #jumpstart2019; Mita Kapur, Founder and CEO, Siyahi conducted masterclass on marketing in the digital space and publishing. While Devashish Sharma, Country Head, Wattpad India with Wattpad Authors Durriya Kapasi and Soumya Singh discussed about the Wattpad platform and their success.

Shilpa Ranade conducted masterclasses for authors and illustrators through designing and creating story boards. 

Paro Anand, Children's Author conducted the masterclass on writing for Young Adults.
